Day 46: August 3, 2013

Amazing first full day with the Edgar clan (well, some of them)! We slept in and ate the freebie breakfast at the Tripler hotel and then got ready for our first hike. This was a recommendation from my Aunt Darlene from when she visited her son here! The Makapu'u hike was an easy, paved road to the top of a peak that overlooked the windward side of Hawaii with a gorgeous view of the famous lighthouse! The lighthouse is off limits, but you can get some pretty great pictures here. We went a little picture crazy here, but it was so worth it. One of my favorite views! We wanted to grab a quick lunch before our canoe tour, so we went to Foodland Farms Grocery Story and got a few things from the prepared food section and then saved room for Uncle Clay's Shaved Ice afterwards. Sadly, Uncle Clay was not there this time, but I'm glad that the fam got to experience his ohana atmosphere!

Earlier in the summer, I purchased a outrigger canoe tour groupon for my family and I to do at the Hawaiian Surf Adventures in the Koko Marina. Our tour guide/navigator was Randon (or Noby) and he was so passionate about Hawaiian history and an awesome tour guide. It was a great workout and we got to get out and swim pretty far out in the ocean. I definitely recommend looking into this tour company. They also give scuba and surf lessons! After the canoe ride, we checked in at the Hilton hotel and we looked like serious weirdos coming in.. Our tiny, ghetto car from Tom's was FILLED with tons of bags, groceries and beer! I think the manager was embarrassed of us trying to take it up ourselves because he specifically came over to us.. hehe! After we unpacked and showered, we walked to the Beach Walk through the Outrigger and ate dinner at Giovanni Pastrami. Busy day!

Wow! Do Sarah and I look alike in this picture or what?!?
