Day 14: July 2, 2013

Well, I guess this little blog has become more popular than I thought it would be! I've really enjoyed writing in it and documenting our excitement in Hawaii, but I have definitely slacked the past few days. Maj and I have been going to the beach during the day and cooking at night while the boys study! It hasn't been exciting enough to have a whole post about the same beach and taco dinners. We have gone to the Ala Moana Beach Park which is in downtown Waikiki right next to the Hilton and Hale Koa, but it hasn't been nice until around 12:00. It has been a cloudy and rainy few days, but we're hoping that tomorrow is more sunny! I'm really excited for the 4th of July because we're having a big cookout at Bellows Beach Park with the other med students that are here. I think I'm going to invite another military wife and her husband that my dad's co-worker connected to me. JR Bittner's wife Eileen has a niece that is military and they just got stationed here for three years and Lauren isn't too happy about that (she's from Pittsburgh and a major family girl)! We've texted and plan on meeting up at the beach here, so I think she would really like to meet some other military families,even if we are only here for TDY orders... I've heard that the military community isn't as big as you think and someday you may see other families at another base in the future! Dan has been working hard on a case presentation that he will be giving to his resident on Friday night, so keep him in your thoughts and prayers! I'm a little bit sad tonight because my family leaves for vacation tomorrow and this is the first family vacation that I've ever missed. I know that I'm in Hawaii, but it is still sad to miss quality family time :( Goodnight for now!
