Day 29: July 17, 2013
Hey all! I'm going to cram a lot into one post because I've been busy playing tour guide. :) On Monday, I picked up Liz (Dans sister) and we stopped at Walmart to buy more chairs and then headed to Lanikai Beach. It was about a 40 minute drive from Waikiki, but totally worth it because the beach has been recommended to us from many people! It is in a neighborhood but street parking and beach access points along the main road. We used access #3 and probably could have gone further down the road to have a longer stretch of beach. The houses around the beach were amazing and very expensive! While Liz and I had a beach bum day, Debbie and Joe went for a scenic drive and stopped at many places such as the blowhole and Sandy Beach. I picked up Dan and we met at Kona Brewing Company for dinner (sorry for the repeat dinners and activities.. Got to show the visitors all the BEST)! On Tuesday, we met at the Polynesian Cultural Center. Make sure to get tickets at the MWR first, because there's a huge military discount. We paid $15 for a general admission ticket to walk around to all the villages, shows and IMAX movie. It was a cool thing for a few hours, but not an all day affair. After the tours, our dinner reservations were for the Shorebird. It was delicious! Dan left early to get studying done, but the rest of us got drinks at the Hale Koa hotel bar. They had live music until 9:00 and it was a beautiful night drinking and talking by the water! We got some really cute pictures!
